Microneedling

Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure where skin is pierced with very fine & short needles using a microneedling pen. It is great at decreasing skin pigmentation, treating scar tissue, stretch marks, wrinkles & large pores as well as improving skin tone & texture by increasing collagen production.
The procedure is only mildly uncomfortable, & skin numbing cream is used. The downtime is about 2–5 days. It may look like you have a sunburn, and your skin may feel tight, dry, swollen, or sensitive to the touch on days 1-3. On days 3–5, your skin should start to return to its normal tone & any swelling should subside.
Acne scars typically require as many as 6 treatments, with treatments spaced 1 month apart. Those who just want to improve the overall tone & texture of their skin can usually get great results in about 3 treatments. In our office, patients have the option of combining microneedling with hyaluronic acid or platelet-rich-plasma (PRP) taken from their own blood (blood draw is required). The growth factors in platelets help stimulate even more collagen production.
